How To Reset Honda Tire Pressure/TPMS Light

The Honda TPMS light will come on when one or more than one of the vehicle tires air pressure falls below the recommended PSI. Driving with the incorrect tire pressure can be extremely dangerous for both those in the vehicle and other drivers on the road.

To reset the Honda tire pressure light, first ensure all tires are inflated to the vehicle’s recommended PSI. Then, turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. Press and hold the tire pressure reset button, located near the steering wheel, until the light blinks three times. Release the button, then turn the ignition off and back on to complete the reset.

It’s important to note that tire pressure can fluctuate with temperature changes, so it’s a good idea to check your tires regularly, especially with the change of seasons. If the light comes on again shortly after resetting, it could indicate a slow leak or another issue with the tires that requires attention. Regular maintenance and monitoring of tire pressure are crucial for safe driving and can help prevent the tire pressure light from illuminating unexpectedly.

To reset the Honda TPMS light, start by ensuring all tires are inflated to the recommended pressure. Next, turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. Press and hold the TPMS reset button, located under the dashboard on the driver’s side, until the light blinks twice. Then, start the engine to let the system recalibrate, which should turn off the light.

Remember, the TPMS is an essential safety feature that monitors tire pressure to ensure optimal driving conditions. If the light turns on again shortly after resetting, it could indicate a tire leak or a malfunctioning sensor. It’s crucial to address these issues promptly to maintain your vehicle’s safety and performance. Regularly check your tire pressure, especially with changing temperatures, as this can affect tire inflation and potentially trigger the TPMS light.

While resetting the tire pressure is an easy process, you will first need to know where the TPMS button is located on your vehicle.

The TPMS button on a Honda is usually located to the left of the steering wheel or beneath the steering wheel. Although the exact location can vary from one Honda model to the next. If you are having trouble locating it on your Honda, refer to the owner’s manual.

Honda TPMS/Tire Pressure Monitor/Sensor Problem

Tire pressure check on car

A Honda TPMS sensor problem may not seem like a serious problem, but it is not something you should put off. When the sensors fail, they cannot properly monitor the air pressure of your vehicle’s tires, and under-inflation is a leading cause of vehicle tire failure. When a tire pressure is low it increases friction, which, in turn, increases the chance of a tire blow out.

A Honda TPMS/tire pressure monitor/sensor problem will typically need to be addressed by a trusted mechanic. Before you take the vehicle into the shop, however, try resetting the tire pressure light to see if that corrects the problem.

Honda Tire Pressure Light Blinking

While most people are aware that when the tire pressure light comes on, it signals that one or more tires has low air pressure. But what does it mean when the tire pressure light is blinking?

When the Honda tire pressure light is blinking, it is usually a sign that the battery is low. The tire pressure sensors rely on a battery to keep them going, and when the battery starts to die, the tire pressure light will begin to blink.

Another potential cause of a tire pressure light blinking is a faulty sensor. Visit your trusted Honda-certified mechanic to have them check the tire pressure sensors.

Honda TPMS/Tire Pressure Light Keeps Coming On

While the tire pressure light is a useful tool, it can quickly become annoying if it keeps coming back on even when the tire pressure is fine.

A Honda TPMS/tire pressure light that keeps coming on is typically due to a malfunction in the sensor. This can usually be fixed by either recalibrating the sensors in the vehicle settings or replacing the sensors.

Honda TPMS/Tire Pressure Light Won’t Go Off

It is not uncommon for Honda owners to experience the dreaded TPMS warning light that just won’t go away. What’s even worse is that the light will keep shining even when your tires have the correct air pressure.

When your Honda TPMS/tire pressure light won’t go off, the issue is usually due to a software issue with the monitoring system. Thankfully, a software upgrade will typically fix this problem. This does, however, require visiting a Honda-certified mechanic, who can perform the software upgrade.

Honda TPMS/Tire Pressure Light Which Tire

Your tire pressure light just came on to alert you that one or more of your tires has low air pressure. But how do you know which one it is?

When the Honda TPMS/tire pressure light turns you will naturally want to know which tire has the low pressure. Some Honda models have a display that shows all 4 tires and their current air pressure. For vehicles without this display, you will need to manually check the air pressure on each tire.

Tire gauges are relatively inexpensive and readily available, and can accurately tell you the air pressure of the tire in a matter of minutes. There are also some gas stations that offer tire air stations which feature a tire gauge built into the air hose.

Honda Tire Pressure Light After New Tires

You just purchased and installed new tires on your Honda, and you’re ready to hit the road when the tire pressure light starts shining.

When the Honda tire pressure light comes on after having new tires installed, it typically just means you need to reset the TPMS on the vehicle. Experts recommend resetting the TPMS on your vehicle every time the tires are changed or rotated.

Some manufacturers even recommend resetting the tire pressure light anytime you add air to the tires. Thankfully, resetting the light is a relatively simple process and can be done on the touchscreen display, steering wheel buttons, or TPMS reset button. The exact method of how to reset this light varies from one model to the next.

Honda TPMS Relearn

The Honda TPMS relearn sequence activates all the TPMS sensors on your vehicle. If these sensors have been recently replaced or repaired, you may have to go through the relearn process to ensure they function as designed.

How to access the Honda TPMS relearn will vary depending on the year and model of your vehicle. For models 2014 and newer, you will need to release the parking brake, turn the ignition ON and the engine OFF, and then push and hold the TPMS button.

The TPMS light will blink twice to signal that the calibration and relearning process has begun. This can take several minutes.

If your vehicle is older than 2014, then you may need an OBD-11 dongle to complete the relearn process. To find out how to start the relearn process for your exact Honda vehicle, check the owners’ manual.

Confused male with hands up in the air

Resetting the Honda tire pressure light should only be done after you have checked to ensure all tires have the correct air pressure. Resetting it without first checking the air pressure could mean you are driving around on tires with incorrect pressure.

To reset Honda tire pressure light, use the steering wheel buttons to navigate through the display. Select the Menu button and then select Customize Settings > TPMS Calibration > Initialize > Yes. The reset process will occur automatically.

For models with touchscreens, you can navigate to the settings screen and then click on TPMS Calibration under the vehicle screen. Select Calibrate to start the resetting process. If your Honda doesn’t have any type of display, then it probably has a TPMS button located to the left of the steering wheel. Press this button to reset the tire pressure light.
